God has blessed us in Christ; but He also makes us a blessing to our communities and to our world. Every disciple is called not to be served but to serve. Such service takes a variety of forms, both within and outside our immediate body. Below are some of the organizations with whom we partner for service.
The Douglas/Elbert Task Force
The Douglas/Elbert Task Force endeavors to meet the immediate needs of residents of Douglas and Elbert County who are in financial distress and at risk of becoming homeless, to help them work through troublesome times with dignity. www.detaskforce.org
Project 1.27’s name and mission originate from James 1:27-
Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” (NIV)
The vision of Project 1.27 is a family waiting for every child.
The mission is to inspire, recruit and resource churches and families to foster and adopt the children in their own backyard.
There are many ways in which you can promote healthy foster and adoptive families. Examples include:
- Thank and pray for foster or adoptive families.
- Like Project 1.27 on Facebook.
- Contact a Parent Support Group about providing snacks for one of their meetings.
- Host a “New Child Shower” for an adoptive family.
- Tutor a young person who is in foster care or has been adopted.
- Offer to babysit for a foster or adoptive foster.
- Join a family’s support team. (Go to Project 1.27.com/contact sign up for a monthly Support Team Tips email)

Alternatives Pregnancy Center exists to care for Denver-area women and men in pregnancy-related crises and offer them a meaningful alternative to abortion. Following the example of Christian love, they seek to meet emotional, physical and spiritual needs, enabling and encouraging women and men to choose life every day. Founded in 1982 as a faith-based organization, their goal is to counsel and live the gospel in front of one woman at a time and to preserve the life of one baby at a time. They offer women alternatives to abortion by providing practical care for them and their families through comprehensive education, counseling, material assistance, and referrals. In addition, Alternatives seeks to educate young people about sexual abstinence before marriage and to help women find healing and grieve for their children lost through abortion. Alternatives Pregnancy Center maintains its Christian witness in the secular world by upholding biblical standards of conduct in its ministry. They also desire to educate and involve the Metro-Denver Christian business community and churches on the issue of abortion and its ramifications. www.youhavealternatives.org
