The pastor participates with the other elders in shepherding, praying, equipping, and leading the church in worship and mission. He especially has the responsibility of preaching the good news of Jesus Christ, expounding the Word of God, and administering the sacraments.
Cornerstone holds to the parity (all elders are equal in their spiritual authority) and plurality (they rule jointly) of elders. Ruling elders (as distinct from teaching elders, or pastors) shepherd, govern, and teach. Together with the pastor they also lead the church in its worship and mission. The elders are:
Deacons lead the church in mercy ministry, stewardship, and service. They not only minister to widows and orphans, the friendless, and those who are in distress, but they lead the rest of the church in such ministry. In short, the Deacons hold the responsibility of ensuring that we as a church are growing in manifesting the deeds of the kingdom.
